Julian Ingram, NSW, Triple Shooting, Death: Community Mourns The Tragic Loss Of Lian Ingram
Julian Ingram, NSW, Triple Shooting, Death Obituary:
A body believed to be that of Julian Ingram has been discovered in remote bushland in western New South Wales, marking a major development in the long-running investigation into the tragic Lake Cargelligo triple shooting that earlier this year sent shockwaves through Australia.
New South Wales Police confirmed that human remains were located on Monday in the Round Hill Nature Reserve, about 50 kilometres northwest of Lake Cargelligo, near an abandoned Ford Ranger utility vehicle. Officers stated that the remains were found in a severely decomposed state, alongside a firearm. While formal identification is still pending, investigators believe the body is that of 37-year-old Julian Ingram.
Ingram had been the subject of an extensive and highly coordinated manhunt since January 22, when police alleged he was responsible for a violent shooting incident in Lake Cargelligo that claimed three lives. Authorities say the attack resulted in the deaths of Sophie Quinn, who was pregnant, her partner John Harris, and her aunt Nerida Quinn. A fourth victim, 19-year-old Kaleb Macqueen, survived the incident despite sustaining gunshot injuries.
Following the alleged shootings, Ingram reportedly fled the scene, triggering one of the largest regional search operations in recent New South Wales policing history. Over several months, law enforcement agencies deployed significant resources, including homicide detectives, tactical response teams, aerial surveillance, drones, and ground search units. Vast areas of remote farmland, national parks, and rugged bushland across the state’s central west were systematically searched without success—until the recent discovery in Round Hill Nature Reserve.
The remains were located by National Parks and Wildlife Service staff conducting pest control and feral animal management in the area. Police have described the discovery as a significant moment in the case, offering a measure of resolution after months of uncertainty for investigators and the affected community.
Assistant Commissioner Andrew Holland noted that the development may bring a sense of closure to a case that deeply affected residents of Lake Cargelligo and surrounding regions, many of whom have lived with ongoing fear and unanswered questions since the events earlier this year.
Authorities also confirmed that Ingram was on bail at the time of the alleged offences in relation to domestic violence-related charges involving Sophie Quinn, a fact that has prompted further public scrutiny and ongoing examination of prior legal decisions. Separate reviews into the circumstances surrounding his bail status and access to firearms remain active.
Police have not yet confirmed the official cause of death. The firearm found near the remains will undergo detailed forensic testing as part of the continuing investigation, which remains open.
As formal identification and further findings are awaited, investigators say they are continuing to piece together the final movements leading up to the discovery. For the Lake Cargelligo community, the development represents a turning point in a case that has left lasting grief, trauma, and unanswered questions.
