The Rusk County community is mourning the tragic loss of 19-year-old Stanley Lang of New Auburn, Wisconsin, whose body was recovered Monday afternoon after he went missing while fishing on Fish Lake over the weekend.
According to the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office, search crews located and recovered Lang’s body on May 11, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m. Authorities said the teenager had been missing since Saturday, May 9, after disappearing while fishing on Fish Lake.
Multiple agencies and volunteers assisted in the recovery effort, including Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Chetek Fire Department – Dive Team, and Bruce’s Legacy, all of whom worked together during the difficult search operation.
The heartbreaking discovery brought a devastating end to days of uncertainty for Lang’s loved ones, friends, and the surrounding community. At just 19 years old, his death has left many grieving a life lost far too soon.
