The Spokane community is mourning the tragic loss of Drake Britton, who died Tuesday afternoon following a devastating motorcycle crash on U.S. Route 2 near Colbert, Washington.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the fatal collision occurred around noon near Carney Road at milepost 299 on Highway 2 south of Colbert. Investigators said the crash involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck towing a horse trailer.
Emergency responders, including a LifeFlight helicopter, were dispatched to the scene after reports of serious injuries. Despite emergency efforts, authorities later confirmed that Britton succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
The collision caused major traffic disruptions throughout the area as emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene. Officials initially closed the northbound lanes of Highway 2 south of Colbert, later reopening limited traffic flow while portions of the roadway remained shut down for an extended period during the investigation.
